Play can also help children practice family roles and values. Play can help build self-esteem, provide opportunities for success as well as help children learn about rules, independence, social skills and feelings. Different types of play activities help children practice language skills, foster creativity and imagination, develop fine motor skills, eye-hand coordination and large motor skills (walking, climbing, skipping, running, swinging, throwing, catching, pushing, pulling).
